"Red, yellow, black, or white, we are ALL equal in HIS sight."
Having said that, I think it's time for our communities to demand more proactive, rather than reactive, appoaches to crime in our communities. Case in point, I realize traffic enforcement is a way to control crime, but how effective is the police being when they sit at the bottoms of the hills on Old Shell Road and Spring Hill Avenue? I mean for Heaven's sake their motives there are obvious---filling their daily ticket quota. Wouldn't this effort be better served in high crime areas targeting those who run traffic signals?
I live on a very busy street in Midtown. Once a drunk driver hit a utility pole, lived to tell about it, in front of my house. A swarm of cruisers was on the street within minutes. Question....why did the force need 5 cops literally standing around while the other 5 worked the scene? Wouldn't the community have been better served to have had those 5 idle cops tracking crime in other areas?
Put the most resources where the crime is occurring. Be more efficient. If you know certain Halls or events in Mobile are likely to have violent incidents, why not place cops there from the beginning?
I digress....
